For this assignment, we were given the responsibility of creating a book campaign for a non-profit. For my organization, I was given The National Center for Families Learning. From research into NCFL, I learned of their mission, goals, and needs. I determined the greatest need they have is the need for money.
Therefore, I created a campaign that would generate profit for NCFL. The campaign is a “Give One, Get One” campaign. If someone buys one of the four books in the Magical Moments collection at Barnes and Noble, another book is given to a family in need.
I also wanted to highlight the mission and three main goals of The National Center for Families Learning. They value children and parents gaining education through reading, increasing their literacy level and getting them excited about books.
The created campaign focused on getting parents to read with their children through childhood stories that they know and love. I designed four book covers and various touchpoints for NCFL. The covers feature several silhouettes of fun and familiar motifs from those stories, such as a teacup for Alice in Wonderland. While the illustrative and colorful visual direction of the book covers captures the attention of the child, the story entices the parent with its familiarity. This combination encourages the whole family to read books together!
