For this project, I was randomly assigned a museum to rebrand. I ended up receiving the American Sign Museum, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The museum has signs from more than 100 years of American sign history and is dedicated to the art and history of commercial signs and sign making. It is the largest public museum dedicated to commercial signs in the United States. With American Sign Museum’s vibrant energy and focus on education and history, I created a full brand that used Art Deco as the main source of inspiration.
After creating the brand, I created several various touchpoints, such as t-shirts, mugs, stickers, postcards, exhibit posters and other signage, and more. A Sign Bingo card was created, so kids and adults alike could mark off the signs they see as they walk through the museum. One of my personal favorite touchpoints that was created is the “Do It Yourself Sign Kit,” in which users could learn how to create a physical sign themselves.
For the media plan, a website was created in which users could learn all about American Sign Museum, all the signs they have, and the history they hold. Additionally, Instagram and Facebook were utilized to allow the museum to have an updated social media presence and to interact with the local Cincinnati people and beyond.
